Antonio Damasio studied people with damage in the part of the brain where emotions are generated. He dicovered that people where normal but had difficulty in making decisions. They could describe what they should be doing in logical terms, yet they found it very difficult to make even simple decisions, such as what to eat. Many decisions have pros and cons on both sides.

Some Very Brief Insight on Emotion V. Reason
Emotions can vary from joy to hatred, enjoyment to regret, etc.
Emotion can be a major influence on how we think about things. It can cause your opinion to change on any topic. Sometimes, emotion can cause a person to have a misinterpretation of a situation. Emotion can be influenced by other's actions. Whether this be hatred or joy, one's opinions can be changed from these.
When it comes to reason, a person would be unable to use it if they are heavily influenced by their emotions. One could choose to agree to terms that would help them, but not think of any possible consequence of it. A person could be doing something for the wrong reasons.
